    I. Solo Color Guard categories are Flag, Rifle, Sabre, Movement, and Mixed-Equipment.

    1. Flag, Rifle, and Sabre performances must use authorized equipment as defined in the current WGI Color Guard Adjudication Manual and Rulebook.

    2. Mixed-Equipment is defined as a performer using multiple pieces of equipment as defined in section 3.0. Movement is not considered a piece of equipment.

    3. A flag, rifle, sabre, or mixed-equipment solo or ensemble must consist primarily of equipment-based choreography. Movement may be incorporated; however, it should not constitute the majority of the performance.

Rationalae: I , 1, and 2 are direct additions from the WGI Solo and Ensemble Rules. Number 3 is an additional guideline to prevent performers from registering for a sabre solo then choreographing a movement solo with 15-20 seconds of equipment at the end.
